Vaginitis is a condition of inflammation in the vagina, causing pain, itching, and discharge. Generally occurs due to change the normal balance of bacteria in the vagina or in other words there is an infection. Can also be due to reduced estrogen levels. Typically after menopause.
Vaginitis is common is type:
1. Bacterial vaginosis, obtained from the excessive growth of one organism in the vagina
2. Fungal infections, occurred because the fungus Candida albicans
3. Trichomoniasis, caused by the parasite and the sexual activity
4. Vaginal atrophy (atrophic vaginitis), due to decreased estrogen levels after menopause
